Firefox - error whilst attempting to make a donation

This article was written for Firefox users only. If you’re experiencing issues with our donation form and are not using Firefox please contact [email protected].

If you’re using Firefox and have encountered an error whilst trying to make a donation on our website the chances are that a strict privacy setting in your browser is interfering with our website’s ability to process your donation. This setting is turned on by default on Private Browsing.

What’s causing this error?

Enhanced Tracking Protection in Firefox automatically protects your privacy while you browse. You can read more about it on the Firefox website.

In short, Enhanced Tracking Protection comes with a STRICT setting which when enabled it blocks our website from communicating with Salesforce, our CRM, where we are processing the donation. This results in the error you’re seeing.

You can see if you’re using Strict Enhanced Tracking Protection by clicking on the shield next to the website address. These settings are also available from the Firefox menu: click on the menu button, click Settings, and select Privacy & Security.

Is there something I can do?

Yes – you can change Enhanced Tracking Protection from STRICT to STANDARD and our website will then function correctly.

Alternatively, you can turn off Enhanced Tracking Protection for our website by clicking on the shield and then toggling the switch as seen in this screenshot.

You can also use a different browser, like Chrome, Edge or Safari to make your donation.
