Join in the Captain Tom 100 initiative this Bank Holiday Weekend and donate to the wellbeing of others

Between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021, a record 2.5 million emergency food parcels were given to people in crisis by food banks in the Trussell Trust network.  That’s a shocking 33% increase in need on the previous year.

WW are really excited to be joining the nation in the Captain Tom 100 initiative. This Friday 30th April would have been Captain Sir Tom Moore’s 101st birthday and the one year anniversary of the extraordinary celebrations following the now-famous 100 laps of his garden that raised an incredible £38.9 million for the NHS.

Over the bank holiday weekend, Captain Tom’s family are inviting the world to celebrate his life with an event that everyone can get involved in, to celebrate his generosity of spirit, the hope and joy he brought to millions, and his sense of fun!

We’re asking our WW family to get involved too and to celebrate the extraordinary spirit of Captain Tom by participating in 100 minutes or 100 repetitions of an ‘activity’ which can be across any of the four WW pillars – NUTRITION, ACTIVITY, SLEEP and MINDSET. You could walk or jog 100 laps of your garden, relax with 100 minutes of mindfulness, experiment with some great new WW recipes with 100 minutes of baking, or try to achieve 100 hulahoop rotations! The possibilities are endless, but whatever you choose to do, make it fun!

If you would like to continue Captain Tom’s great legacy, please consider fundraising or making a donation to our charity partner The Trussell Trust – you can donate easily using the widget below.
