As a result of the extraordinary expansion of our foodbank network coupled with developing corporate and national relationships, The Trussell Trust determined that a new support infrastructure was required. This would ensure a network that is future-proofed, sustainable and capable of growth in the long term to meet the rising number of foodbank clients.
With the generous financial support of Cummins and their invaluable business expertise, we were able to establish a Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) in October 2016. Based upon work by the engineering company, the RDC was designed and supplied with a logistics and racking system that enables the storage and redistribution of bulk food donations from manufacturers and retailers.
In addition to helping develop efficient processes for our logistics and supply chain, Cummins staff have been very active in both volunteering and fundraising and we are very grateful for their enthusiasm and involvement.
Since commissioning, the RDC has received in excess of £300,000 worth of food items and we look forward to continuing this vital work together.
