Help stop UK hunger this Christmas
Support people facing hunger and poverty this winter by joining us for the UK’s biggest food collection.
On 3rd, 4th and 5th December, all UK Tesco stores will be hosting a food collection for either a Trussell Trust foodbank or our partner charity, FareShare, as part of the seventh Neighbourhood Food Collection.
Christmas can be a difficult time for individuals and families who are already managing on extremely tight budgets. Increased winter fuel bills will push many families into food crisis, leaving them with the heart-breaking dilemma of choosing between heating and eating.
Donations made to Trussell Trust foodbanks are used to provide 3 days of nutritionally-balanced, emergency food to people in crisis that have been referred by frontline professional agencies such as Citizens Advice or children’s centres. While at the foodbank, clients will be welcomed, listened to and signposted to services that can provide support with the underlying causes of their crisis, helping to break the cycle of poverty.
Tesco top up customer donations by making a 30% financial contribution, so by getting involved you will not only help provide vital food for UK people experiencing crisis, but funds will help Trussell Trust foodbanks provide important support beyond food.
We are thrilled that the UK's largest supermarket shares our vision that no one should go hungry, and is working with FareShare and us to empower local communities and fight poverty.
With 13 million people in the UK living in relative poverty, #everycanhelps!
Will you join us to help stop UK hunger?
Donate in store:
Simply pick up one of our shopping lists and donate an item or two (or more!) at your nearest store, to help stop people going hungry in your community. To find your nearest store and the charity it is collecting for, please use the map below. Express stores will be hosting collection points from 23rd November-5th December.
Have fun & change lives by giving up just a few hours of your time to help collect the items essential to providing emergency food parcels for people in need.
All you need to do to get involved is search for your nearest Tesco store using the map below and then get in touch with the partnering foodbank. Contact details can be found on the foodbank’s website.
If your nearest store is partnered with FareShare, you can sign up to volunteer on their website. Please note, we will not require volunteers for Express stores as they hold temporary, unmanned collection points.
Briefing packs will be available from the foodbank for those who sign up; however if you have any questions please contact: email@example.com.
If the rota for your local store is full, don’t forget to ask about other volunteering opportunities or ways you can help.
