Big Lunch

Want to hold an event for your nearest foodbank? Why not host a Big Lunch and ask everyone to bring a tin or two for the foodbank?

Foodbank Conferences

Every year we host a foodbank network annual conference where current foodbanks and people interested in starting a foodbank can come and enjoy a day together, sharing ideas, stories and best practice.

2011 Foodbank Conference

On Wednesday 27th April over 250 people involved in foodbanks nationwide gathered together in St Paul's, Salisbury to celebrate all things foodbank. We announced our 100th foodbank, shared stories and ideas and heard a great keynote address by Steve Chalke MBE, founder of Oasis, Faithworks and Stop the Traffik... Listen to Steve Chalke's inspirational talk here (go to 'latest talks' section of St. Paul's website)

At the conference

  • Interested parties can see how foodbanks work.
  • Current foodbanks share news and ideas.
  • There are seminars and training to help foodbanks develop expertise.
  • A keynote speaker encourages and envisions foodbank leaders
  • We share and evaluate performance over the past year.
  • We give thanks for all that's been achieved.

We had a great day at our foodbank Network Project Managers Annual Meeting in Swindon on 2nd November with over 25 foodbank representatives from across the network in attendance.   This conference was a chance for project managers from all over the UK to come together to be encouraged, share their ups and downs and learn from one another's experiences.  There was also the opportunity for foodbanks to give feedback on the support offered to them by the network and how we can continue to do this better.

Foodbank Network North Conference, September 2010

We are really keen and working hard to see more foodbanks established in the North of England which is why we held a foodbank Network North Conference in Scunthorpe on 8th September 2010.  It was a very encouraging day with people interested in opening a foodbank in the north of England coming from a wide range of areas including York, Bradford, Sheffield, South Liverpool, Blackburn, Manchester, Grantham and even as far away as Aberdeen!  We shared how the foodbank project works and gave practical advice on how to go about start one up.  There was a high level of genuine interest and we are excited to see how things will develop in this region.

Foodbank Network Annual Conference, May 2010

The foodbank Network Conference held in Salisbury on 28th May 2010 attracted 190 delegates from across the UK! People came from as far away as Scotland, Cornwall, Wales and London to celebrate success, share stories and work out how to make foodbanks even better. We shared that we now have over 60 foodbank projects launched across the UK and 41,000 people received help from UK foodbanks last year. 25 new projects were launched in direct response to the recession.
