Vaccinations
Flu vaccinations are too costly for many Roma people, yet poor living conditions mean that they are very susceptible to the virus. The Trussell Trust's vaccination programme inoculates the young, the old and those living in the worst conditions against the virus.
Previous years have seen flu outbreaks prevent people from working, often leaving families in a state of real hardship at an already difficult time of year when temperatures can reach -20 degrees.
Children at Lipnitza School/Orphanage are also inoculated each year to try to prevent the spread of flu within the school. This is particularly important during winter, when many children return home to situations that are cold and damp, with little
sanitation.
