NEWS:     THE Salisbury FOOD BANK & FOOD BANK Franchise
  • NEW LOGO

The foodbank network has adopted a new logo, shown below, which is now being used by all members, and will include their town in the logo.

  • The NEXT FOOD BANK NETWORK ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2008 will be held on 22 April 2008 in Salisbury. The keynote speaker will be Dr Jonathan Oloyede MB ChB

Born in Britain but bred in Nigeria, Dr Oloyede is a medical doctor by profession and called as a missionary to England and Europe.  He was radically saved from Islam within the wake of the revival that hit the Nigerian Universities in the 80s.

His current pastorate includes the Glory House Academy, the College of Ministry, Prisons/ Hospital outreaches and the diverse network of one hundred and fifty Home Churches. Glory House is a Black Majority Church in East London with a combined attendance and membership of 6,000.

Jonathan’s heart and passion is to see the Church united and emptied out into society as Salt and Light.  He describes his mission statement as Rallying the Church for the Great Commission and Transformation. One of his key roles is challenging the Church to Unite in Prayer.

If you would like to attend the conference and hear more about the foodbank call Jeremy Ravn on 01722 411244

  • Trussell Trust and Salisbury High School Partner to encourage Healthy Eating

An exciting joint initiative by The Trussell Trust and Salisbury High School was launched in the New Year to deliver a healthy eating and cooking course called  “EAT WELL, SPEND LESS” for people living locally. This was a short course which ran for 6 weeks, from the 14 January 2008 in the Food Technology Department of Salisbury High School.

The course was largely delivered by professionals who volunteered their time for free in support of the campaign to give everyone the opportunity to eat delicious, healthy meals whatever their budget.  It covered healthy eating, cooking skills and budgeting. The course is for anyone who wants to know more about preparing healthy meals for themselves and their families, making best use of seasonal fresh local produce and managing this on a tight budget. Kingsley Fewins, who until recently was a senior lecturer in the catering department at Salisbury College, led the course and brought all his expertise to bear in teaching people how to select good produce and cook great family meals.

There will be more Eat Well, Spend Less courses running in the near future, so keep an eye out for publicity, here and around the community.
